Assessment that celebrates potential, not just performance
The role of our educators is to extend and deepen children’s ideas and theories. Through careful observation, documentation, thoughtful questioning, and deep reflection, our teachers work in partnership with students to negotiate the curriculum, extend thinking, and develop explorations within our units of inquiry.
Our Objectives:
- Open dialogue with parents, so that we can work in a transparent and harmonious partnership to support children’s learning at home and at school.
- All students of HIXS will have equitable learning opportunities to achieve high attainment and progress by the end of Primary across a broad and balanced range of domains and subject areas with associated knowledge and understanding.
- We profile an overview of a student’s progress so that we can take further actions where needed and monitor equalities.
- Early identification of children who need temporary extra help and children who may have additional educational needs
- Class teachers work with all adults involved in a child’s learning to input data onto our digital assessment tracking system. Senior leaders work with class teachers and the whole team to analyse the information in order to take action for individual children or groups of children, as needed.
- Students will develop due respect and consideration for the local and wider community and will be resilient, inquisitive, confident communicators with a strong work ethic and the desire and capacity to be responsible, principled, successful global citizens.
- Students feel a sense of belonging and the motivation to persist through their school work.
