Specialist Offerings

The playground of possibility. The stage of self-discovery

Music

Music at HIXS Pune is integrated across all grade levels and throughout the school week. From the earliest days of early years to the final days of primary, students are embraced and surrounded by a culture that values the arts and works to sustain an interest in developing one’s own musical ability throughout schooling and beyond. Music develops self-reflection, discipline, practice, expression as well as a host of social benefits.

Drama

Organised as expression of ideas, feelings and experiences in performance, language, gesture and movement, Drama plays a significant role in the curriculum. Work on performances takes place in the Mini Black Box and Drama Room. These productions are not just seen as entertainment, but also pedagogical tools used to develop social skills, creativity, and reinforce aspects of the experiential learning process. The Waldorf approach emphasise holistic development, and drama helps us to cultivate empathy, imagination, and spiritual-aesthetic awareness.

Physical Education

Physical Education at HIXS Pune is for everyone. We are proud of the personalised pathways that exist enabling young people to follow their passions and develop a life-long interest in leading physically active and healthy lives.

Makerspace

As with all Heritage International Xperiential Schools, we incorporate our Makerspace into our everyday offerings to foster creativity, problem-solving, and innovation. The curriculum offers hands-on learning experiences, enabling students to design, build, and create with a range of tools and materials.

Visual Arts

In the Early Years, our Visual Arts Curriculum is delivered in our purposely built Atelier spaces. True to the Reggio Emilia approach, the HIXS Pune Ateliers are dedicated spaces designed to foster creativity, exploration, and learning through hands-on activities. These two spaces are referred to as the Light and Music Atelier and the Visual Atelier. The Ateliers are seen as laboratory-like environments filled with diverse materials and tools, encouraging students to express themselves, inquire further, and engage in learning through various mediums.

Our primary Visual Arts Studio allows for opportunities to build on the early years Atelier programme, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and visual literacy through hands-on experiences. The curriculum incorporates drawing, painting, sculpting, and other art forms, encouraging students to explore materials and techniques while developing their artistic skills and personal expression.

Library

Our Reading Room and Primary Library contain a wealth of world-relevant, age-appropriate fiction and non-fiction books to extend children’s knowledge, promote research skills, and stimulate their imaginations. It provides a quiet place for children to read and relax and plays a vital role in promoting a love of reading.

We recognise the importance of enjoying literature for pleasure in realising our school vision and supporting all our children to enjoy learning and achieving, feel good about themselves, and become positive members of the community. Therefore, across the campus you will find areas for quietly reading a book independently, sharing stories with friends through storytelling, or taking part in serendipitous performances.
